Bourtange, a star-shaped fortress c 1593. Returned in its original state. Around the Markt there are restored 17C and 18C façades and old lime trees lead out to the streets running to the bastions. | Bourtange. Bourtange werd in 1580 als fort gebouwd in opdracht van Willem van Oranje. Het fort werd gebouwd op een 'tange' een zandrug in het moeras. In 1851 werd de vesting opgeheven. De vesting is in de jaren zeventig van de 20e eeuw in opdracht van de gemeente gereconstrueerd naar de situatie van 1742. Er zijn vijf musea, waaronder een synagoge. |
